Nongenomic mechanisms of physiological estrogen-mediated dopamine efflux

Rebecca A Alyea, Cheryl S Watson BMC Neuroscience 2009, 10:59 (16 June 2009)

Physiological estrogens induce dopamine efflux in rat pheochromocytoma cells expressing estrogen receptors leading to regulation of dopamine transporters, which offers mechanistic insight into the gender bias of dopamine-dependent neurological diseases.
